The work examines the foundation and development of Liberal Arts Colleges in the Bombay Presidency/Western India during the 19th century. Anne Sliwka studied history, political science and education at the universities of Bonn, Paris and Oxford. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and is now working as a researcher in education at the University of Erfurt.
